Mondays can be tough, and I've been feeling a bit of that "blah" energy lately. My mind has been all over the place, especially when it comes to my work as a photographer.
I've seen so many local photographers offering deals and stylized shoots, and I truly hope people find them. It's so important to support one another in this industry. However, it's easy to feel a little discouraged when my passion for street photography doesn't get the same attention. My goal is to capture the raw, unfiltered underbelly of life—the pure art, culture, and humanity I see every day, not just the glamorous moments. It's a deep-seated passion that I hope to share with more people.
This past Saturday was my Uncle Ralph's birthday. Thinking of him and all our time together still brings a tear to my eye. I know he'd be so proud of how far we've all come, and I wish he were here to see it. He taught me about life, showed me unconditional love, and inspired my passion for travel and curiosity. Happy birthday, Uncle Ralph. You are missed and loved.
But today, I'm putting all that aside because it marks a truly special day. I just bought two plane tickets to Las Vegas for my dad's upcoming birthday! He's the most influential person in my life, and he's always dreamed of going to Vegas for a big fight night. While I wasn't able to get tickets for the Canelo vs. Crawford fight, we'll be there for the boxing meet-and-greet and hopefully the weigh-ins. We'll get to experience the electric atmosphere and watch the fight together in the city.
This trip is a way for me to show my appreciation for everything he's done for me. Seeing him get to relax and enjoy this moment makes me so happy. Happy upcoming birthday to my right-hand man, I hope he has the time of his life.

Today is the start of the last leg of my data analysis certificate course I'm taking through Kent State. It's been a long two months of doing homework after work, and I'm hoping for a change. I feel like it has been a good refresher on my college course from a few years ago. One of the most insightful things I heard today from a presentation, which I remember my old college professor saying a lot, was "ask the right questions." That hit home a little too much today. Asking the right questions is a basic thing to do, you would think, but it takes more thought. Sometimes I feel I get lazy with that part and need a reminder like today to ask the right questions in everyday life. With all that being said, I'll drink some tea and ask the right questions.
By the way, usually the loudest person in the room is a... (Hey Google, play "Tonta" by Grupo Mojado). This is a reminder that every time I log into Facebook, I see someone comment something on a local current events page that just makes me want to delete my account and crash out. I just need to bite down and stop doomscrolling. I'll drink some tea and move on.
